Dr. Villanueva is the vice president of enrollment management at the University of Houston-Downtown.

As an innovator educator, he has transformed the university by embracing technology, leveraging process improvement, and enhancing the student experience.

 Dr. Villanueva integrates digital and social media throughout his professional work. He is an advanced marketer who embraces digital content to impact the environment around him. He is a transformative leader who relies on dynamic data to make informed decisions.

He is a progressive twenty-first century higher education executive who focuses on first-generation, historically excluded, low income student success. He brings unique experiences having worked in student services, student affairs, and enrollment management at community colleges and universities alike.

His research interest revolve around academic capitalism, student access and success, Hispanic-serving institutions, and Latinx college students.

He is a true collaborator and strongly believes in the foundations of the academy: academic freedom, shared governance, and incremental improvement.
